How to guide my recipient on their first Weixin (WeChat) Pay transfer?

In order to send CNY to the recipient via Weixin (WeChat) Pay, the recipient will need to share their details with you.

1. The recipient can search for 跨境汇款 微汇款 (Tenpay Global Remittance), and select 我要收款 (Receive Transfers) to create a Recipient Card. The Recipient Card can be shared with the sender. It contains all the recipient information that the sender requires.
2. After the transfer is processed, the recipient should get an SMS from Weixin which will include a unique link for them to receive the transfer. The recipient will need to click on the link and choose Collect Transfer in the Weixin app.
3. If the recipient has not selected their receiving method before, they will need to select either to receive into their Weixin Pay e-wallet balance or a linked bank card.
4. The recipient will also need to follow instructions to authorise their phone number in order to receive SMS OTPs, and verify any additional personal information requested from Weixin.
5. If the Purpose of Transfer is “Savings (to Self Only)", the recipient may be required by Weixin to provide additional information, such as their payslip
6. If the Purpose of Transfer is "Family Support (to Close Relatives)”, the recipient may be required by Weixin to confirm their relationship to the sender.
7. Once completed, the transfer should be credited to the selected receiving method almost immediately.

Please note that the link sent via SMS by Weixin expires in 48 hours. If the recipient is unable to complete the required steps during the 48 hours, your transfer will be cancelled and returned.
