For Mari Invest Income, both the Payout Rate and Since Inception Return help us to understand the fund’s returns. However, they differ in terms of (i) definition, and (ii) time period.
Returns are presented on an average annual compounded basis, and payouts are assumed to be reinvested monthly.
Payout Rate
The Payout Rate displayed refers to the sum of monthly payouts received over a 1-Year period (and assumes payouts are reinvested).
To illustrate this:
* Assuming that 'Reinvest to Mari Invest Income' is selected as the Payout Method on the MariBank app.
You may refer to an illustration of how the Payout Rate is determined via the following steps:
1. Log in to your MariBank app.
2. Tap Mari Invest on the homescreen.
3. Tap on Mari Invest Income. After you have successfully submitted your first buy order for Mari Invest Income, this will be under My Holdings > Mari Invest Income.
4. Scroll down to the Enjoy Consistent Payouts section.
5. The Payout Rate may be determined by (Sum of the monthly payouts over the 1-Year period) / S$10,000.
Since Inception Return
The Since Inception Return takes into account both (1) sum of monthly payouts; and the (2) unit price movement since the creation of the fund on 30 November 2012.
While the (1) sum of monthly payouts contribute positively to the Since Inception Return, the (2) unit price movement may contribute positively or negatively to the Since Inception Return.
The fund offered through Mari Invest Income is not immune to market fluctuations and similar to all other investments, its Unit Price may increase, decrease, or remain the same over time.
To illustrate this:
An increase in the Unit Price of the fund may, at times, result in the Since Inception Return being higher than the Payout Rate.
Conversely, a decline in the Unit Price of the fund may, at times, result in the Since Inception Return being lower than the Payout Rate.
The price movement chart may be accessed in the MariBank app via the following steps:
1. Log in to your MariBank app.
2. Tap Mari Invest on the homescreen.
3. Tap on Mari Invest Income. After you have successfully submitted your first buy order for Mari Invest Income, this will be under My Holdings > Mari Invest Income.
4. Scroll down to the Performance on S$10,000 Invested section.
5. Tap on ‘View Unit Price History’
