Why should I pay in foreign currency instead of Singapore Dollars for my foreign currency card transactions?

Always choose to pay in foreign currency (e.g. MYR, THB, IDR etc.) to avoid paying any fees or charges.

When you choose to pay in Singapore dollars,

- card transactions will be converted via Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) an the exchange rates will be determined by the relevant merchant or DCC provider. The exchange rate used for DCC transactions are generally less favourable than foreign currency transactions.

- card transactions effected in Singapore dollars and processed overseas (including online transactions) also incur a Currency Conversion Fee by Mastercard (For more on Interest, Fees and Charges, read here).

When you pay in foreign currency for your foreign currency transactions, you enjoy zero FX fees and no hidden charges on your overseas spend! Find out more here. T&Cs apply.
